Cloud Seeding

I spent two seasons as a pilot for a weather modification program in Western Kansas. The standing joke was that when all the other pilots were putting their planes in hangers and heading for tornado shelters the Western Kansas storm busters got to go flying into severe thunderstorms with our wings on fire.

The green cloud pictured here is a picture I took in a storm we were seeding. The Frankenstein green color is the actual color of the storm. This is not someplace you want to be unless you know what you are doing. The FAA suggests that pilots stay away from thunder storms.
