Air Shows
Growing up in the central Utah town of Price, Lon Arnold knew by age 4 that he wanted to fly. While working on his Boy Scout Aviation merit badge, Lon took his first flight at the age of 12 and was hooked for life. As a Civil Air Patrol Cadet, aerospace education and flying opportunities came on a regular basis. Two weeks after his 16th birthday Lon performed his first solo flight.
After graduating from the California State University at Los Angeles, Lon taught high school and college electronics for several years, and worked as an engineer in the Los Angeles area.
In 1998 Lon started his air show career. Flying at air shows all across the U.S. has been a great experience.
After spending two seasons flying in a weather modification program in Western Kansas, Lon said he has gained an even greater application for real time weather in the cockpit. When flying weather mod the joke was he only got to fly in really bad weather. Most pilots avoid thunder storms, weather mod pilots fly into them on purpose with their wings on fire.
Lon also continues as a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He said that it is a way to continue serving his country. CAP has a need for both pilots and non-pilots.
